Students are working with their teachers (Mr Guest & Mr Mitchell) on real projects. Collaborating with local business, enables students to get a sense of the quality and expectations of a real client. All students at the College have access to a laptop, and theory work & tasks are available via a Learning Management System.
HI Gentlemen, maybe I can answer all you questions (I work with Steve): - we are 1:1 laptop school, all students are 'loaned' a laptop for their 2 years at school - all students should wear correct PPE gear to each practical lesson, this includes safety glass, but not hearing protection. - we have used a LMS for 4.5 yrs. Once the information / tasks are created for a topic, we review & refine this so it can be used again the next year. Students are able to upload activities and assignment work online to a dropbox in the LMS. This really helps our students to be organised. Students must undertake theory and practical lessons to be competent in the work, and get their final Certificate II in Construction Pathways (like a journeymans certificate).
do they have their own laptop or they share it with others?
ReplyDeleteDo the students have to wear safety euquipment as glasses and hearing protection?
ReplyDeleteDoes the collaborating mean that the school gets payed for the effort?
ReplyDeleteDo you find the LMS to be helping/ contributing to your role as a teacher, or do you find it to be time consuming to update?
ReplyDeleteDo the students report any results or tasks via the LMS platform, or is it mostly information out so to speak?
